Why Noira existsWhy Noira exists
We went looking for our own addresses online and found them in about twenty seconds, on sites we had never heard of, next to phone numbers and the names of family members. Nobody asked. There was an opt-out form, so we filled it in. Then we found another site. Then another. The real problem turned out not to be removing one listing — it is keeping up with hundreds of them forever. That is the job Noira does.
The other thing we noticed is that the companies already doing this mostly ask you to trust a status label. A dashboard turns green and says "Removed." You have no way to check, and the listing is sometimes still there. So Noira is built the opposite way around: we photograph the listing when we find it, we photograph the empty page when it is gone, and you get both pictures with timestamps on them. Every removal we claim has two timestamped screenshots behind it.
Our full list of 690 sites is published and marked by whether we handle each one automatically or by hand, so you can audit the homepage number yourself, line by line. Every site we cover is on the record, and every removal we claim has the pair of screenshots behind it — per removal, not a quarterly digest.
